Jon was born in Chesterfield and grew up in Sheffield, before going on to read Mathematics at Trinity College, Cambridge. His teaching career began at Westminster School and continued at Rugby, before he took on leadership roles as Head of Mathematics and subsequently Deputy Head at Hampton Court House.

In 2015, he completed his National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership through the Institute of Education, with a research project on teamwork in school management. After ten years in senior leadership, including a year as Acting Head, Jon took a career break, relocating to North Wales and purchasing a small hotel in the seaside village of Morfa Nefyn.

While running the hotel (and walking his dog along the coast), Jon has remained active in education, consulting on a range of EdTech projects. These include Brillder, a remote learning platform, and the development of AI models designed to explain mathematical reasoning. He is also a trained mixologist and an enthusiastic amateur sommelier.

He is delighted to be part of the Mount community, even if his presence may cause mild embarrassment to his niece and nephew, who are both pupils at the school.
