CCF

CCF Mount St Mary's College

For over a century, pupils at Mount St Mary’s College have been invited to become part of the Combined Cadet Force.

It is open to pupils in Years 9, 10 and 11 and the Sixth Form, and students enrol in either Army or RAF. They are issued with the appropriate full uniform which they wear to school every Friday when CCF takes place.

The College has one small bore rifle .22 range and one air rifle range. These are used by both sections of the CCF for target practice and at other times by the College Rifle Club.

The RAF cadets have the opportunity to take flying lessons at RAF Linton-on-Ouse in York; one of the busiest airfields in the country.

We also have cadets selected to participate in the IACE programme (International Air Cadet Programme). In the summer of 2022, we had one cadet travel to the USA, and one to France, each spending two weeks at different air bases.

All students who participate thoroughly enjoy the CCF Programme, and the opportunities it presents.

Students develop a sense of self-discipline, respect, and hone their team work skills in a way not possible inside the classroom.
